The birth of Nadine's Irish Mist dates back to Derry Ireland and the winder of 1984. As young married couples do, Niall and Lillian Coyle sat in their kitchen with their baby daughter Charmaine safely tucked up in bed, and as young couples do, over a steaming cup of Irish Tea, they looked to their uncertain future. As the cold wind whistled around the small terraced house in the Bogside, and the driving rain beat defiantly on the windows Lillian announced that one day the family would own an Irish Bar somewhere really warm, near a beach. After Niall recovered from a spasm brought on by excessive laughter an idea was born.

On 16th July 2009, almost 24 years after that leap of imagination, the Coyle family completed the purchase of the property at 16655 Pacific Coast Highway, Sunset Beach, Orange County, California, 90742. The one story building was formerly a bar/restaurant but had closed and fallen into a state of disrepair. Refurbishment began the very same day under the supervision and direction of Noel Moore, Charmain's husband, not only a contractor highly respected throughout the bar/restaurant industry in Ireland, but also a true creative artist in his won right. The something wonderful happened. As the tradesmen began their work, they developed an attachment to the project. As the days turned into weeks, they went further, worked harder, stayed longer and sweated more than anyone could have asked. Hour after hour covering every small detail, making sure everything was absolutely perfect. Paul Simpson our electrical consultant together with his team Dale, Janish, Acoustics and Patti Nicholas, lighting and illumination, not forgetting the constant ray of light that is Ulrich, has created a space that can be enhanced, adjusted, altered or completely changed to suit any ambience.

Take a look at the magnificent, hand-crafted edific that is the back bar, or the equally impressive bar counter. Cast your gaze from there to the Oakwood panelling around the walls, the elegant staged area to the front or the delicate arches and borders overhead, to the very floor that you walk on. You see and touch, the blood, sweat and tears (literally) of our carpentry team. This work of staggering patience, dedication and sheer talent is the creating of master carpenter Trevor Gill, and also assisted by fellow master carpenter Jerry Cascarini and Casey the quiet.

Noel Moore supervised everything from design to completing, but there's more. Take another look around Nadine's Irish Mist. The artwork decorating the walls, the scripted Irish sayings and quotes, the paintwork and treatment on the panels and the floors, every corner, every space has had Noel's creative hands pass across it.

And so, thanks to the efforts of those listed above and many, many others Nadine's Irish Mist has gone from a dream on a cold winters night in Ireland almost a quarter of a century ago to a reality today.

Niall, Lillian, Charmaine, Nadine, Rachael and Noel have all taken an extremely active role in the design, and they will continue to take an active role in all of the day to day activities in Nadine's Irish Mist.
