18th Annual International Beer Festival
The 18th Annual International Beer Festival is set for April 23 and 24 at Exposition Gardens in Peoria. Here's a taste of what the weekend offers:
- Friday 23: 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and at the door, with sales limited to the first 1,000 guests. A more laid-back atmosphere that features a sampling of local restaurants (and a People's Choice Award contest), including Bar Louie, Kelleher's Irish Pub & Eatery, Hickory River Smokehouse, The Fox Pub & Cafe, Cracked Pepper Catering & Bakery, Granite City Food & Brewery, Crusen's, Old Chicago, Double A's, Spotted Cow and more. Food tastings and a commemorative glass are included in the ticket price. Local band Elwood will perform. Beer tickets are $5 for 8 or $10 for 16 4 oz. samples. More than 150 beers available for sampling. Proceeds benefit the Independent Sportsman's Club.
- Saturday 24: The main event starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. More than 325 beers available for sampling. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door and includes a commemorative glass for the first 4,500 people. Beer tickets are $5 for 8. The event includes a concession stand, an outdoor tent and live entertainment by Nootril Drop, B-Driven, Gypsy Road, and Easy Rider, along with the Peoria Area Bagpipers. Proceeds will benefit the Alta Masonic Lodge's child ID program; Independent Sportsman's Club; Camp New Hope; St Philomena's Men's Club; Illinois Jaycees; and the Peoria Jaycees. Entrants must be 21 years old and have valid I.D. Chairs are prohibited indoors but are allowed in the outdoor area.
- Advance tickets are available at Old Chicago locations, Kelleher's Irish Pub, Rhodell Brewery and Friar Tuck.
- Designated drivers receive half price admission and two tickets for soda and water.
