Dublin’s Downtown Soft Opening Set for This Week
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — “We are Black Irish,” quickly quipped Mark Moss, one of the two African-American brothers who have been in the Irish bar business for a few years. Both have undoubtedly used the punchline countless times.
Mark and his brother Ernest once ran Dublin’s in West Hollywood before moving the concept to Downtown Los Angeles’ Fine Arts Building. The Moss brothers will have a soft opening Tuesday, or, if some last minute details come together, the doors can open for business as early as Monday.
Whichever day they open, Dublin’s will be the second Irish-themed bar, only a few blocks away from Casey’s Irish Pub on Grand, north of Wilshire.
Dublin’s will be open from 11am to 2am, and a full menu will served until 10pm when the kitchen will switch over to a modified late-night menu. The interior highlights the architectural details and high ceilings, and the bar is equipped with HD monitors for watching sports.
7th street has finally begun to take shape as the "Restaurant Row" that backers have touted it to be. Now we get to find out whether Downtown can work two Irish pubs into a busy nightlife schedule.
