Some of the regions most exciting bands play at Lochrann’s Inaugural Oysterfest

SATURDAY, SEPT 25, 2010
LOCHRANN'S IRISH PUB & EATERY
(6195 MAIN STREET)
2 STAGES. 19 BANDS. ALL AGES. DOORS 10 A.M.
Six months ago, Spune teamed up with Frisco’s Wellhouse Co and the good people at Lochrann's Irish Pub & Eatery to produce a Thursday night live music series. The goal was to brand the Lochrann's stage as a live music destination for cutting-edge local music in Frisco, which could eventually develop Main Street as an entertainment and arts district. After a great response, Spune started booking Friday nights too. In a continued effort to provide quality entertainment in the Frisco area, we've taken it a step further. What better way to build upon this momentum, than a music festival centered around what Lochrann's does so well, excellent food and drink!
"We love celebrating the Irish heritage at Lochrann's. Whether it's through our food, sharing a great pint with friends, or our live entertainment. We hope to bring a little piece of Ireland to you. September is always an exciting month for us being an Irish Pub. We have halfway to St. Pat's on Sept. 17th, Smithwick's Anniversary, and oysters coming into season. It was the perfect time to introduce Oysterfest" - Deina McNabb, owner of Lochrann's.
This year, however, Lochrann's was not so sure it would be a September to remember. There was fear that the recent oil spill in the gulf would force them to take oysters off the menu resulting in an Oyster "less" Fest.
"Luckily, we found another fresh oyster supplier. Knowing that our local fishermen in the Gulf were losing business, and potentially losing their livelihood, our plans for the festival really hit home. We wanted to do something to help so we hooked up with Gulf Aid – an organization with the mission to aid gulf fishermen, their families and the future of the wetlands. We're happy to allocate a portion of ticket sales to this great organization." (Deina McNabb, Lochrann's)
THE MUSIC: Lochrann's Inaugural Oysterfest won't be without all of the bells and whistles! With both an indoor and outdoor stage, we are expecting a great crowd. The event will start at 11am and go throughout the day to give everyone time to enjoy fresh oysters, great pints, and listen to fantastic regional, national and international bands! Live music will continue up to 1am.
Matthew Harber - of Frisco based Wellhouse Co - said, "this festival was the clear next step in continuing to build an active live music culture in and around Main St. Frisco. The Thursday and Friday program we are a part of at Lochrann's created such groundswell of local excitement that we needed to respond to the interest. As we do not yet have a space such as the Granada to host shows in the 1,000+ range we decided to collaborate to create an event outdoors. From here we will continue our efforts to eventually build several venues in close proximity to the inaugural Oysterfest site."
